Wow now this is an impressive album. Tristania is another Goth/Doom metal band. However Tristania does it right for a change. This album is what this genre was intended on sounding like. The Male lead singer uses doom metal vocals, but there not to extreme or anything like that; Actually there very tolerable vocals. Also we have the beautiful female vocals from the beautiful Vibeke Stene. These are some of the most beautiful female vocals I have ever heard from any female singer. And lastly the music portion of the album. We've got just about everything in this album except the kitchen sink. Drums, guitars, violins, pianos, keyboards. Blend this all together, and you got Tristania. Some of the highlights on this album are "Evenfall", "December Elegy", "Angellore", "My Lost Lenore", and "Wasteland's Caress." Wow that's more than half the album that's good. Actually from start to finish this album is a masterpiece, and I never really get tired of hearing this beautiful album.

"Evenfall" is the first song after the Prelude. This song has a really good variety of music in it. It's got the guitar & drums, but then it's got some really, really nice piano & violin work in it. The next track "December Elegy" might just be the most beautiful track on this CD. It opens rather slow, and were then treated to Vibeke's amazing vocals. She basically sings the lead in this song, and the male singer sings the chorus. Towards the middle of this song it gets really slow, and there's the sound of water running in a stream. At this point we here some very nice stringed music, and then the male vocals kick back in to end the song. The 6th track "Angellore" was actually the first track I ever heard from Tristania. I originally liked this one a lot, because it had some clean vocals in it. This song to starts out slow, and with the sound of children laughing in the background. I guess some other guy does the clean vocals on this track, but he does an awesome job. Honestly I sometimes wish all the vocals were clean, but I guess that's not going to happen. The 7th cut "My Lost Lenore" is really awesome, and it starts out with a upbeat piano intro that Then goes into some female vocals in the background with more whisper like female vocals that you hear a little better. Also then there's some nice opera like female vocals on this track. The chorus is sung by the male lead singer in his doom metal type of voice. "Wastelands Carees" starts out almost silent with just some faint background music until the main guitar kicks in here, and then a nice big scream. The roles are reversed on this song, and the female singer does the chorus on this track. This song is possible the best on the whole album, and I could listen to this song a couple times in a row, and not get tired of it.

This album is truly very unique compared to all the other Goth/doom metal bands. This album just does not really sound anything like all those bands. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
