Beth Hart recorded this, her first CD, at Chick Corea's Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles with producer Geoffrey Leigh Tozer in 1993. Since then she has gone on to write and record many more fine songs in many other styles but this represents her roots and her first foray into serious recorded music. This is a re-release of the original recordings from 1993. All tracks have been re-mastered.
She co-wrote the entire CD with Mr. Tozer and put down the tracks with her first band The Ocean of Souls; Geoffrey Leigh Tozer piano/backing vocals, David Kendrick Drums, Tal Herzberg bass, Jimmy Khoury guitar, Scott Breadman congas.
Listen to this entire project and you will hear the angst and heartbreak, the soaring optimism and sparkling energy of a magnificent, powerful and poignant singer with a razor sharp point of view and an unbending resolve. This is truly a personal deeply moving work of art.
Some have said she sings like Janis Joplin, but I don't think so. I think she sings better than that.
